Apple Pay is now available in Guatemala and El Salvador in partnership with local banks, Banco Promerica and BAC Credomatic. The feature allows iPhone and Apple Watch users to pay for purchases in stores by holding their device near the credit and debit card reader. It also works for online purchases on apps and websites and is available to iPad and Mac users.
Customers of the two banks can add any VISA and Mastercard credit and debit cards to Apple Pay by going to the Wallet app on their device, and the process is handled through the Watch app for Apple Watch users. It is recommended that users have the latest operating system installed on their device for full compatibility with the latest banks added to the platform.
Apple Pay was previously launched in South Korea earlier this year in partnership with Hyundai Card. The expansion of Apple Pay to new countries is part of the company’s effort to expand its payment services globally.
